How to Link Assignments to CLOs in Canvas
Where do I start?
- Linking happens in your Canvas course.
- Start by going to the assignment you want to link, DO NOT go to the Insights tab or the Outcomes tab. You can’t link from there.
- To link your assignment(s) to CLOs, follow the linking instructions below, depending on the assignment type:
- Align CLOs with Assignments in Canvas if the Assignment Does Not Have a Rubric
- Align CLOs with Assignments in Canvas if the Assignment Does Have a Rubric
- Align CLOs with Discussions in Canvas
- Align CLOs with New Quizzes in Canvas
- Align CLOs with Third-Party Assignments in Canvas
- Locate Course Learning Outcomes in Canvas
- Download and Complete Course Assessment Worksheets
- NOTE: Linking creates a basic rubric with the CLOs on it that you can use to assess student work at the same time you grade the assignment. This is not the case with new quizzes, unless you choose to include a rubric.
What happens after I link?
- You can check to see if you linked an assignment correctly by using the “Outcomes” tab and clicking “Alignments.”
- To complete your assessment, you must use SpeedGrader to score student work according to the CLO rubric that you have linked to the assignment.
- This is not necessary for new quizzes, unless you choose to use a rubric.
- To see your course assessment data for that section, go to the Gradebook and choose “Learning Mastery Gradebook” at the top.
- If you have questions, please contact your DCAF or the Office of Assessment and Evaluation
