The Community College of Philadelphia has a program-to-program transfer agreement with the University of Cincinnati. To benefit from this Agreement, students must earn an associate degree before transfer.

Under this Agreement, University of Cincinnati will accept all the courses from the Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Respiratory Care Technology from Community College of Philadelphia as Block Creditto satisfy half of University of Cincinnati’s online Bachelor of Science (B.S.) Respiratory Therapy programassuring third-year/junior status.

Transfer guides are created and maintained to help students and staff make appropriate course and program choices. The guides show how the requirements for the appropriate Community College of Philadelphia associate degree transfer to the bachelor's institution. It is, however, possible for program requirements at Community College of Philadelphia or the transfer institution to change without advanced notice.

Admissions Eligibility

Under this Agreement, Community College of Philadelphia students pursuing admissions into University of Cincinnati’s online B.S. in Respiratory Therapy will be guaranteed admission into University of Cincinnati with third year (junior) status on the condition that they:

  • Graduate from Community College of Philadelphia with the Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Respiratory Care Technology. 
  • Earn a final cumulative Community College of Philadelphia grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.5.
  • Hold credentials as a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) and be RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapy) eligible.
  • Meet deadlines for admissions application, payment of fees (admissions application fee is waived), submission of official transcripts from all institutions attended and other enrollment requirements that apply to other students entering University of Cincinnati’s B.S. Respiratory Therapy program.
  • Must be admitted to the University of Cincinnati College of Allied Health Sciences and enroll in the B.S. Respiratory Therapy program during the duration of this agreement (i.e. January 2021 to May 2024). The online University of Cincinnati B.S. Respiratory Therapy program has three start dates (Fall, Spring, Summer terms).

Students are strongly encouraged to meet with a University of Cincinnati Admissions Representative and/or a Community College of Philadelphia Program Advisor for the Respiratory Care Technology curriculum to develop a course taking strategy to maximize course transferability.

Note:

  • Students are responsible for sending University of Cincinnati official transcripts from all attended institutions as well as professional credential documentation. Transfer credit will be awarded for courses with a grade of “C” or above for any and all courses transferred to University of Cincinnati. Developmental courses are not eligible for transfer.
  • University of Cincinnati agrees to accept all 70 semester hours from Community College of Philadelphia’s A.A.S. Respiratory Care Technology as “Block Credit.” A maximum of 70 semester hours will be accepted from Community College of Philadelphia and a total of 50 semester hours will remain to complete the 120 semester hours required for University of Cincinnati’s online B.S. Respiratory Therapy program. 
  • Community College of Philadelphia students who transfer are responsible only for requirements in place at University of Cincinnati as of the date of their enrollment into Community College of Philadelphia’s A.A.S. Respiratory Care Technology as curriculum. 
  • University of Cincinnati agrees to accept the General Education embedded in Community College of Philadelphia’s A.A.S. Respiratory Care Technology as satisfying the University of Cincinnati General Education requirement.
  • Students who have pursued a Community College of Philadelphia associate degree other than the A.A.S. in Respiratory Care Technology or who do not earn the associate degree in the designated curricula and who wish to transfer to University of Cincinnati’s online B.S. Respiratory Therapy program are not covered by this Agreement. 

Advantages

Students who participate in this Agreement are eligible for the following benefits:

  • Application fee to University of Cincinnati’s online B.S. Respiratory Therapy program will be waived.
  • Informational meetings with a University of Cincinnati representative.

Financial Aid

Students who transfer under this Agreement will be provided with University of Cincinnati financial aid information and receive full consideration for University of Cincinnati financial aid upon matriculation at University of Cincinnati just like native students with junior status.
