View Institution Transfer Agreement

Community College of Philadelphia has two types of transfer agreements with Eastern University: dual admissions and program-to-program. To benefit from any of these agreements students must earn an appropriate associate degree before transfer. These agreements are not exclusive of one another and the agreements can complement one another.

Dual Admissions

Eastern University and Community College of Philadelphia have developed a dual admissions agreement. This agreement is designed to assist students who earn an appropriate associate degree to transfer to Eastern University. Eastern University guarantees admissions on the condition that students meet all the requirements.

Admissions into a particular major is not guaranteed. Upon transfer, students earn junior standing for matching majors. Support and financial incentives, including scholarship awards, are built-in to offer students the best opportunity for success.

Dual admissions eligibility

Students who do not qualify for dual admissions, are still eligible to transfer to Eastern University. Please review the list of approved programs below and visit with a Community College of Philadelphia academic advisor or counselor for further assistance.

These are agreements in which an entire curriculum or program of study is accepted, so graduates of these specific associate degree programs transfer with advanced standing to a matching specific bachelor's degree program at Eastern University.

In addition to the traditional Undergraduate programs, Eastern University's non-traditional Adult Undergraduate Programs offer accelerated bachelor’s degree completion programs. These programs will accept all or most of the courses from any associate degree from Community College of Philadelphia to satisfy half of the bachelor’s degree guaranteeing junior status.

Dual Admissions Eligibility

Eastern University welcomes applicants to the Dual Admissions Program in order to facilitate the transfer of students from Community College of Philadelphia to Eastern University with third-year (junior) status for the purpose of entering a bachelor’s degree program.

To be eligible for this program, students must:

  • Submit a dual admissions intent form before earning no more than 30 graded college level credits (grades of A, B, C, D, F) from Community College of Philadelphia or any other college/university. Once a student has completed this form, they are strongly encouraged to meet with an Eastern University admissions representative and a Community College of Philadelphia academic advisor or counselor to develop a course-taking strategy.
  • Complete the Eastern University admissions application at least 60 days prior to the start date (or as soon as possible for rolling admissions) and satisfy all other regular Eastern University admissions requirements.
  • Graduate from Community College of Philadelphia with an Associate in Arts (A.A.), Associate in Science (A.S.) or Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in one of the approved programs listed.
  • Achieve a minimum Community College of Philadelphia cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 within an associate’s program of study (or a 3.0 in Education).
  • Enroll at Eastern University within one year of graduating from Community College of Philadelphia.

To submit a Dual Admissions intent form, login to MyCCP and find “Transfer/Dual Admissions” on the top right side of the MyGPS tab.

  • Students who have previously been matriculated to Eastern University are not eligible for the Eastern University dual admissions program.
  • Students can transfer up to 89 credits. Only courses with a grade of “C” or better are transferrable towards the student’s major and a grade of “C” is required to fulfill the written communication requirement. Courses with grades lower than “C” will transfer as electives.
  • A full-time student admitted with third year (junior) status to Eastern University will be able to complete most bachelor's degrees at Eastern University within four regular semesters provided the student completes the appropriate associate degree program at Community College of Philadelphia and completes the appropriate sequence of their remaining course work at Eastern University. Spring semester entry to Eastern University may affect the normal sequence of courses in a degree program.
  • Eastern University agrees to accept the general education courses embedded in the Community College of Philadelphia A.A. and A.S. degrees toward the fulfillment of many of its undergraduate general education requirements. Given the larger number of general education courses required for the bachelor degree at Eastern University, most students will have remaining general education courses to fulfill after transferring to Eastern University, particularly those related to the Christian faith and mission offered only at Eastern University.

Advantages of Dual Admissions

Students who participate in dual admissions are eligible for the following benefits:

  • Eastern University does not have an application fee.
  • Eastern University scholarships for dual admissions students who enroll full-time (12 or more credits) or tuition discounts for part-time enrollment with a 2.0 or higher GPA.
  • Informational meetings with Eastern University staff at Community College of Philadelphia campus/regional centers for assistance in matriculating to Eastern University.
