View Institution Transfer Agreement

Community College of Philadelphia has two types of transfer agreements with Gwynedd Mercy University: dual admissions and program-to-program. To benefit from any of these agreements, students must earn an appropriate associate degree before transfer. These agreements are not exclusive of one another and can complement one another.

Dual Admissions

Gwynedd Mercy University and Community College of Philadelphia have developed a dual admissions agreement. This agreement is designed to assist students who earn an appropriate associate degree to transfer to Gwynedd Mercy University. Gwynedd Mercy University guarantees admissions on the condition that students meet all the requirements.

Admissions into a particular major is not guaranteed. Upon transfer, students earn junior standing for matching majors. Support and financial incentives, including scholarship awards, are built-in to offer students the best opportunity for success.

Dual Admissions Eligibility

Students who do not qualify for dual admissions, are still eligible to transfer to Gwynedd Mercy University. Please review the list of approved programs below and visit with a Community College of Philadelphia academic advisor or counselor for further assistance.

Program-to-Program

These are agreements in which an entire curriculum or program of study is accepted, so graduates of these specific associate degree programs transfer with advanced standing to a matching specific bachelor's degree program at Gwynedd Mercy University.

Dual Admissions Eligibility

Gwynedd Mercy University welcomes applicants to the Dual Admissions Program in order to facilitate the transfer of students from Community College of Philadelphia to Gwynedd Mercy University with third-year (junior) status for the purpose of entering a bachelor's degree program.

  • Submit a dual admissions intent form before earning no more than 45 graded college level credits (grades of A, B, C, D, F) from Community College of Philadelphia or any other college/university. Once a student has completed this form, they are strongly encouraged to meet with a Gwynedd Mercy University admissions representative and/or a Community College of Philadelphia academic advisor or counselor to develop a plan of study.
  • Complete Gwynedd Mercy University's admissions application during the semester before the student plans to matriculate to Gwynedd Mercy University (or by no later than one month prior to the start of the academic term); Admissions fees will be waived.
  • Graduate from Community College of Philadelphia with an Associate in Arts (A.A.), Associate in Science (A.S.) or Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in one of the approved programs listed.
  • Achieve the minimum Community College of Philadelphia cumulative grade point average (GPA) as noted in the chart below.
  • Enroll directly to Gwynedd Mercy University within one year of completing an associate degree program of study from Community College of Philadelphia and not attend another institution between graduation and attendance at Gwynedd Mercy University.

Note:

  • Students who have previously been matriculated to Gwynedd Mercy University are not eligible for the Gwynedd Mercy University dual admissions program but are encouraged to apply as a transfer or readmissions student to Gwynedd Mercy University.
  • There is no obligation on the part of the Dual Admissions Community College of Philadelphia student if they decide to not transfer to Gwynedd Mercy University.
  • This Agreement applies to students who enter Gwynedd Mercy University as full-time undergraduate students only.
  • Transfer credit will be awarded by Gwynedd Mercy University for all courses for which a passing grade (A, B, C or D) was received. Grades of “D” will ONLY transfer if the Community College of Philadelphia student has earned an appropriate associate degree and has achieved (a) a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 for all courses presented for the degree and (b) a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 for courses required in and offered by the major at Gwynedd Mercy University (some majors may require higher GPAs). If the student has not satisfied both (a) and (b), the student's courses will be evaluated by Gwynedd Mercy University.
  • Students are responsible for sending Gwynedd Mercy University official transcripts for evaluation of credit from all attended institutions, including military transcripts. Credit will also be awarded for Advanced Placement (AP), College-Level Examination Program (CLEP), Prior Learning Assessment (PLA), Credit for Prior Learning (CPL), etc., with appropriate documentation. Developmental courses are not eligible for transfer.
  • The grades for transfer courses are not calculated in the student's GPA at Gwynedd Mercy University; only the credit is transferred. Once courses have been transferred, they become part of the student's permanent record and cannot be removed.
  • Graduates of approved Community College of Philadelphia associate degrees and who transfer to Gwynedd Mercy University will be waived from placement tests under this Agreement.
  • The maximum number of semester hours that can transfer to Gwynedd Mercy University is 90. Students enrolled in an undergraduate program of study at Gwynedd Mercy University are required to complete a minimum of 30 credits (depending on the major program) including at least half of the requirements in the major or area of specialization.
  • A full-time student admitted with third year (junior) status to Gwynedd Mercy University will be able to complete a bachelor's degree within four fall/spring semesters provided the student earns the appropriate associate degree at Community College of Philadelphia, appropriately sequences their remaining course work at Gwynedd Mercy University, and completes all courses with the minimum passing grade or higher.
  • Under this Agreement, Gwynedd Mercy University guarantees that all Community College of Philadelphia credits from Community College of Philadelphia programs of study listed in this Agreement will fulfill general education, elective or major requirements in the corresponding Gwynedd Mercy University major that the Community College of Philadelphia transfer student wishes to pursue.
  • Students are strongly encouraged to follow the degree requirements listed in the Transfer Guides for their particular program of study included in this Agreement. Students who do not follow these transfer guides may not maximize the transfer of credits.
  • Students who have pursued a Community College of Philadelphia associate degree study other than those designated in this Agreement or who do not earn the associate degree in the designated curricula and who wish to transfer to Gwynedd Mercy University are not covered by this Agreement. Such students will be considered for admissions on an individual basis and their credits will be evaluated on a course-by-course basis.
  • Gwynedd Mercy University's Bachelor of Science in Nursing Pre-licensure program is not included in this Agreement. Students interested in this program will need to apply through a separate process. Please meet with a Gwynedd Mercy University admissions representative for details.
