Millersville University Sound Recording and Music Technology Program Agreement

Community College of Philadelphia and Millersville University of Pennsylvania have entered into a program-to-program transfer agreement to facilitate the transfer of students who earn the Associate in Applied Science in Sound Recording and Music Technology. They will be assured third-year status into Millersville University’s Bachelor of Science in Music Industry program as long as they meet Millersville University entry requirements.

Terms and Conditions

The following terms and conditions apply for Community College of Philadelphia graduates entering Millersville University:

  • Graduate from Community College of Philadelphia with the Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Sound Recording and Music Technology 
  • Earn a final cumulative Community College of Philadelphia grade point average (GPA) of at least a 2.0.
  • Satisfy Millersville University ‘s Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Music Industry performance audition (additional auditions not required).

Notes:

  • Transfer credit will be awarded for courses with a grade of “C” or above for all courses transferred to Millersville University. Grades of “D” will transfer with the understanding that those courses will not fulfill program requirements where a grade of C- or greater is required.
  • Students are responsible for sending Millersville University official transcripts for evaluation of credit from Community College of Philadelphia and all other attended institutions, including military transcripts. Credit will also be awarded for AP, CLEP, DANTES, etc. with appropriate documentation, per guidelines established by the Transfer Articulation Oversight Committee (TAOC) of the PA Department of Education. Developmental courses are not eligible for transfer.
  • Any student who has completed all requirements of the General Education program at the Community College of Philadelphia will receive a waiver of all Millersville University General Education requirements, with the exception of an Advanced Writing requirement, which is a distinctive General Education requirement at Millersville University.
  • Third-year (junior) status will be awarded as long as a minimum of 60 credit hours has been earned and posted on the Community College of Philadelphia transcript.
  • Students are encouraged to follow the program-to-program curriculum Transfer Guide that specifies for Community College of Philadelphia transfer students the Community College of Philadelphia courses that satisfy requirements needed for both associate and bachelor’s degree completion.
  • Students who follow the program-to-program curriculum Transfer Guide as included in this Agreement will be awarded third-year (junior) status. This allows a full-time student who enrolls at Millersville University to complete the B.S. in Music Industry program within four full-time fall/spring semesters or no more than 60 credits (or half of the bachelor’s degree) provided the student appropriately sequences their remaining course work at Millersville University, including all major, required related, and General Education requirements are completed, and that the 120 credit minimum has been attained.
  • All students who transfer into Millersville University through this Agreement will be required to fulfill all applicable residency requirements of Millersville University and the PA State System of Higher Education current at the time of matriculation into Millersville University.
  • Students who have pursued a Community College of Philadelphia associate degree study other than the A.A.S. in Sound Recording and Music Technology or who do not earn the associate degree prior to transfer to Millersville University are not covered by this Agreement. Such students will be considered for admissions on an individual basis and their credits will be evaluated on a course-by-course basis.

Approved Degree Program and Transfer Guide

Associate in Applied Science in Sound Recording and Music Technology is approved for transfer into the Bachelor of Science in Music Industry program at Millersville University of Pennsylvania. 

Transfer guides are created and maintained to help students and staff make appropriate course and program choices. The guides show how the requirements for the appropriate Community College of Philadelphia associate degree transfer to the bachelor's institution. It is, however, possible for program requirements at Community College of Philadelphia or the transfer institution to change without advanced notice.

Students are advised to visit with a Community College of Philadelphia music faculty, academic advisor or counselor for further assistance.
