In Fall 2017, Community College of Philadelphia embarked on the planning process for the NEW Library and Learning Commons. Established by College leadership and the primary stakeholders, the vision for the space is a welcoming educational environment celebrating the diversity of age, cultures and points of view of the College community. The space will have clear wayfinding while taking advantage of great natural light. There will be places for quiet study and for collaboration while securing the book collection. An emphasis is on offering an array of group study/classroom spaces, technology and flexibility. Lastly, it is important that the space exude beauty with artwork, finishes and furniture. 

On Sept. 17, 2019, Community College of Philadelphia welcomed our new mascot Roary to the Lions community. Welcome, Roary, to the Lions pride. Faculty, staff, students and alumni enjoyed entertainment, food and giveaways. Marc Farzetta, host of "Farzetta & Tra In The Morning” on 97.5, emceed the event. Franklin, the Sixers mascot and Villanova University's Will D. Cat, were there to welcome Roary to the mascot team. After Roary's debut, the party continued with the annual Black and Gold Bash. #CCPpride! We are the #CCPLions! To learn more about Roary, follow the roar.

The Girls' Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Camp gave 6-8th grade girls in the Philadelphia area the opportunity to learn about STEM transportation fields. Highlights included tours of the SEPTA bus garage and Girls Auto Clinic, a field trip to the Simeone Automotive Museum and Lori Johnson, from Ladies, Start Your Engines, spoke to the girls and helped them build their model car projects.
