View Institution Transfer Agreement

Community College of Philadelphia has three types of transfer agreements with Chestnut Hill College’s School of Undergraduate Studies (traditional day) and School of Continuing and Professional Studies-Accelerated Adult Degree Program (evening): dual admissions, core-to-core and program-to-program. To benefit from any of these agreements students must earn an appropriate associate degree before transfer. These agreements are not exclusive of one another and the agreements can complement one another.

Dual Admissions

Chestnut Hill College and Community College of Philadelphia have developed a dual admissions agreement. This agreement is designed to assist students who earn an appropriate associate degree to transfer to Chestnut Hill College. Chestnut Hill College guarantees admissions on the condition that students meet all the requirements.

Admissions into a particular major is not guaranteed. Upon transfer, students earn junior standing for matching majors. Support and financial incentives, including scholarship awards, are built-in to offer students the best opportunity for success.

Dual admissions eligibility

Students who do not qualify for dual admissions, are still eligible to transfer to Chestnut Hill College. Please review the list of approved programs below and visit with a Community College of Philadelphia academic advisor or counselor for further assistance.

Core-to-Core

Chestnut Hill College and Community College of Philadelphia have a core-to-core agreement. In this, Chestnut Hill College agrees to accept the General Education embedded in Community College of Philadelphia’s A.A., A.S., and approved A.A.S. degrees as meeting all the requirements of its undergraduate General Education requirements, except for nine credits (six in religious studies and three in a global seminar).

Students may complete the required religious studies courses at Community College of Philadelphia, one of these courses should be RS 151/PHIL 151, World Religions. The Global Seminar course must be taken at Chestnut Hill College

This core-to-core agreement applies to all A.A., A.S., and approved A.A.S. degrees and is not limited to students who participate in dual admissions. Core-to-core transfer does not alter the requirements of the student's major field of study as identified in the Chestnut Hill College catalog.

Placement Testing/Assessment

While Community College of Philadelphia graduates are awarded Core-to-Core, they may still be asked to take a Placement Test/Assessment as follows:

Placement Testing/ Assessment

Core-to-Core Students

Math

The Math Placement Test is designed to determine readiness for the math course(s) needed for CHC graduation and/or the program of study.

  • Not needed unless a specific math course is required for the academic major/minor; if needed students must take the Math Placement Test prior to registering for a Math course.
  • Students who transfer in Calculus, Calculus II or Calculus III are exempt from taking the Placement Test
  • Workshops are available to help students prepare for the Math Placement Test.

Writing

Writing assessment is required for all students. Results are used for advising purposes only.

Foreign Language

Not required unless needed.

  • Chestnut Hill College's English language proficiency requirement will be considered fulfilled by English Language Learner students who have completed an Associate degree program at Community College of Philadelphia.

Program-to-Program

These are agreements in which an entire curriculum or program of study is accepted, so graduates of these specific associate degree programs transfer with advanced standing to a matching specific bachelor's degree program at Chestnut Hill College.

It is, however, possible for program requirements at Community College of Philadelphia or the transfer institution to change without advanced notice.

Transfer guides are not available for all programs. Students are advised to visit with a Community College of Philadelphia academic advisor or counselor for further assistance.

Dual Admissions Eligibility

Chestnut Hill College’s School of Undergraduate Studies (traditional day) and School of Continuing and Professional Studies-Accelerated Adult Degree Program (evening) welcome applicants to the Dual Admissions Program in order to facilitate the transfer of students from Community College of Philadelphia to Chestnut Hill College with third-year (junior) status for the purpose of entering a bachelor’s degree program.

To be eligible for this program, students must:

  • Submit a dual admissions intent form before earning no more than 45 graded college level credits (grades of A, B, C, D, F) from Community College of Philadelphia or any other college/university. Once a student has completed this form, they are strongly encouraged to meet with a Chestnut Hill College admissions representative and a Community College of Philadelphia academic advisor or counselor to develop a course taking strategy.
  • Complete the appropriate Chestnut Hill College application during the final year of the Community College of Philadelphia degree program and satisfy all other regular Chestnut Hill College admissions requirements.
  • Graduate from Community College of Philadelphia with an Associate in Arts (A.A.), Associate in Science (A.S.) or Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in one of the approved programs listed.
  • Achieve a minimum 2.0 cumulative Community College of Philadelphia grade point average (GPA). Only courses with a grade of C or higher will be eligible for transfer.
  • Enroll directly to Chestnut Hill College within one year of completing an associate degree program of study from Community College of Philadelphia and not attend another institution between graduation and attendance at Chestnut Hill College.

To submit a Dual Admissions intent form, login to MyCCP and find “Transfer/Dual Admissions” on the top right side of the MyGPS tab.
