The Community College of Philadelphia has program-to-program transfer agreements with Widener University. To benefit from these Agreements, students must earn an appropriate associate degree before transfer.
Admissions Eligibility

Students who wish to transfer to Widener University for the following bachelor degree programs must satisfy the following terms and conditions:


Bachelor of Science in Engineering

Students pursuing admissions into Widener University’s Bachelor of Science in Engineering Degree must satisfy the following terms and conditions:

  • Graduate from Community College of Philadelphia with an Associate in Science in Engineering degree.
  • Achieve a cumulative 2.5 Community College of Philadelphia grade point average (GPA).
  • Successfully complete the following courses with a grade of “C” or higher: MATH 171 Calculus I, and either CHEM 121 College Chemistry I or PHYS 140 Physics I or BIOL 109 Anatomy and Physiology I (BIOL 109 is for Biomedical Engineering only.)
  • Apply and meet the deadline dates for admissions, payment of fees, etc., as would normally apply to other transfer students at Widener University.

Bachelor of Social Work Degree

Students pursuing admissions into Widener University’s Bachelor of Social Work Degree in Social Work must satisfy the following terms and conditions:

  • Graduate from Community College of Philadelphia with either an Associate in Applied Science in Behavioral Health/Human Services degree or an Associate in Arts in Liberal Arts – Social Behavioral Science degree.
  • Achieve a cumulative 2.0 Community College of Philadelphia grade point average (GPA).
  • Apply and meet the deadline dates for admissions, payment of fees, etc., as would normally apply to other transfer students at Widener University.

If any of the above terms and conditions are not met, Widener University shall determine appropriate transfer of credit on an individual basis.


Students are strongly encouraged to meet with a Widener University Admissions Representative and/or a Community College of Philadelphia Academic Advisor or Counselor to develop a course taking strategy to maximize course transferability.


Note:

  • Students are responsible for sending Widener University official transcripts from all attended institutions as well as professional credential documentation. Transfer credit will be awarded for courses with a grade of “C” or above for courses transferred to Widener University. Developmental courses are not eligible for transfer.
  • Widener University agrees to accept a maximum of 64 semester hours Community College of Philadelphia
  • Widener University will accept all the courses from the appropriate Community College of Philadelphia Associate degree to satisfy half of Widener University’s matching Bachelor degrees assuring third-year/junior status allowing students to complete the Widener University requirements for the Bachelor Degree within four regular semesters as a full-time student.

Financial Aid

Students who transfer under this Agreement will be provided with Widener University financial aid information and receive full consideration for Widener University financial aid upon matriculation at Widener University just like all students with junior status.
