The Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH), established on September 9, 1915 by Dr. Carter G. Woodson, founded Black History Month. The association continues the work and mission of Dr. Woodson, who is known as the "Father of Black History."

The Association's theme for this year is Celebrating Black Health and Wellness.

The College Library has a trial to IBISWorld, through February 11, 2022. Access the trial through MyCCP (Under Student Quick Links, click on Library. Under the Databases tab, click on A-Z Database List. The New/Trial Databases are listed on the right).

IBISWorld Overview 

Used by over 490 US academic institutions and thousands of businesses (accounting, commercial banks, private equity, law firms, engineering firms, marketing, advertising, insurance, logistics, utilities, manufacturers, etc.) IBISWorld publishes a robust, yet easy to use online database of research, analysis, and risk information on over 1460 US industries at the level where companies operate – most with COVID-19 Impact Statements; from Water Supply & Irrigation Systems to Electronic Medical Record Systems to Food Trucks and just about everything in between.

Mango Languages Logo The College Library subscribes to Mango Languages, online language learning software.

Mango is now accepting applications for their Student Ambassador Program. Enrollment ends January 16, 2022.

"This semester-long program builds networking, communication, and language skills that help students prepare for an increasingly competitive job market."

The College Library has a subscription to a new resource from EBSCOhost. 

Ethnic Diversity Source covers culture, traditions, social treatment and lived experiences of:

  • African Americans
  • Arab Americans
  • Asian Americans
  • European Americans
  • Jewish Americans
  • Latinx Americans
  • Native Americans
  • Multiracial Americans

It provides full text from a growing list of sources including peer-reviewed journals, magazines, e-books, biographies and primary source documents.

This database is available from the A-Z Database List page, which must be accessed through the Library's website from MyCCP when off-campus.

Qwest TV EDU Thanks to the generosity of Quincy Jones, the College Library has access to Qwest TV EDU, which offers over 1300 concerts, documentaries, and archives from around the world. Access is available until February 1, 2022 through the A-Z Database List.

As a reminder, you must access the Library through MyCCP first.

Asian Pacific American Heritage Month

May is Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. The Free Library of Philadelphia's Resources to Combat Anti-Asian Racism have been compiled to start a dialog on Anti-Asian violence in the United States.
