Brandon

I’ve known the director of the CME [Center for Male Engagement], Mr. Derrick Perkins, for a very long time. When I was getting out of high school in 2013, I didn’t know where I wanted to go with things. He’s always been a mentor to me, and he encouraged me to come to the College and told me CME would help me get started.

The College has helped me with responsibility and time management—and doing things I think a man should do—taking care of his family, friends. The program here, CME, has helped me understand the importance of doing well in school. I wasn’t always an Honors student. I was a "B-C" student, but after coming here, after seeing people like me, same skin color, same struggle... really working towards the same goals, it really helped me decide to get my schooling together.

Editor’s Note: Brandon will be graduating from the College May 2018 and will attend Temple University in the fall to pursue screenwriting and directing. His future goal is to direct his own movies and series.
