Seminar Description
As we return to the face to face classroom wearing masks, we must make adjustments as instructors. Although we’ve worn masks for over a year now, we haven’t done so while speaking at length in front of a classroom. In this workshop, we will explore issues with breathing, audibility, articulation, and non-verbal communication, while we practice techniques to enhance communication in the classroom. Facilitator Mary Conway returned to the live Public Speaking classroom Fall 2021 and discovered a need to teach herself and our students how to best manage communication while masked. Workshop source material is research-based and includes techniques taught in ENGL 120 Voice and Articulation.
