2017 Student Leadership Awards Recipients

Each year, the Division of Academic and Student Success presents awards to outstanding members of the Community College of Philadelphia. Student Leadership Awards recognize individual and club contributions to the College, their club, the greater Philadelphia community and beyond. The Student Leadership Awards also recognize students' growth in leadership roles and their creative involvement in campus and community life.

Rising Star Award — Ms. Noye Enwerej

The rising star award is given to the student who has shown a desire to learn about leadership and works to gain a better understanding of student leadership and community involvement. The rising star is new to leadership and involvement and has demonstrated a desire to lead at the College and in the greater community.

College Mission Award — Ms. Yazim Belton and Mr. Eric Marshall

The College Mission Award is presented to the individual or club that embodies the College's mission at the College and in the community. The recipient has demonstrated multiple aspects of the mission in their actions and leads by example.

The Regional Center Spotlight Award — Ms. Eryn James 

This award is presented to the Regional Center student or club whose work radiates diligence and consistency so much so that the spotlight shines on them. The Student Life staff chooses this award recipient.

Outstanding Innovation Award — Ms. Tanja Irby

Innovation allows us to see and approach the world in new and exciting ways. The Outstanding Innovation Award is presented to a club or individual who works to create new ways of engaging others. This award is based on originality, innovation, ingenuity and foresight.

Outstanding Leadership Award — Ms. Jennifer Johnson

The Outstanding Leadership Award is presented to the club or individual who demonstrates leadership on an ongoing basis. The recipient has worked at the College, actively seeking leadership roles at the College and in the community.

Outstanding Service Award — Ms. Sultana Abdur-Raheem

Service is written into the mission of the College. The individual or club who receives the outstanding Service Award has gone above and beyond in living this aspect of the College mission. The recipient has volunteered at the College and/or in the community with a commitment to service that is clearly demonstrated in their actions.

The Spotlight Award — Mr. Kenneth Blume

This award is presented to the student or club whose work radiates diligence and consistency so much so that the spotlight shines on them. The Student Life staff chooses this club award recipient.

Advisor of the Year — Mr. Ari Bank

The Advisor of the Year Award is presented to the person that has worked to assist the club he/she ad-vises to grow its membership, has worked to develop leaders within the club and encouraged collaboration and growth among its student members.

Student Leader of the Year — Ms. Charise Stewart

The Student Leader of the Year is a member of a club or organization who demonstrated leadership qualities on an ongoing basis. This individual has demonstrated leadership through his/her actions and has worked to develop the leadership skills in others.

Club of the Year Award — The Black Student Union (Mr. Eric Marshall, President & Dr. Ardencie Hall-Karambe, Advisor)

The Club of the Year has gone above and beyond to grow its membership, leading with integrity and working to be an example of leadership. This club has worked to create programs and events that are inclusive and open to the entire student body, and has worked to educate others about the mission of the club.
