Bucknell Community College Scholars

This could be a life-changing experience for students!

Through the generosity of Bucknell University, eligible Community College of Philadelphia students will have an opportunity to receive financial and administrative support to earn a bachelor's degree at Bucknell. The Bucknell Community College Scholars Program provides need-based tuition scholarships for two years of full-time enrollment, and additional financial aid may be available to assist with room, board, books, etc. Extensive support is also planned to help students make a smooth transition to Bucknell and to persist to graduation.

Since 2007, 75 College students have participated in the summer Scholars Program. Thirty-five students graduated from Bucknell as of May 2019.  Seven students are currently enrolled at BU full-time, pursuing their bachelor's degrees. Other summer program participants have attended Evergreen State, La Salle, Temple, University of Pennsylvania, Stanford University, Mount Holyoke College and Swarthmore College.

We are now in the process of recruiting students for summer 2020 with the possibility of transferring to Bucknell for fall 2021. In the summer, students live on campus and take two transferable courses. There is no cost to the students; in fact, they receive a weekly stipend. Students must be in A.A. or A.S. degree programs, have a current GPA of 3.5 or higher and have completed 12-30 college credits as of the end of the fall 2019 semester. The financial eligibility requirement is an AGI of no more than $60,000 for dependent students, $45,000 for married students and $30,000 for independent students.

Information sessions will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 29, from 3:30-5 p.m. in Room BG-07, the Counseling Center and Thursday, Jan. 30, from 9:30-11 a.m. in Room S1-09.

Please inform any eligible students who may be interested in this opportunity and encourage them to come to an information session. Whether or not the student attends the session, the student should contact Todd Jones, 215-751-8177, tjones@ccp.edu. You are also welcome to join us for the session.
