ID Card and Access Control

Beginning March 1, 2018, the College community must present a College ID card to gain access to any College facility. This process holds true for all faculty, staff and students. Security will no longer honor typing in a J number or presenting alternate ID as a means to grant access. If a student, faculty or staff member does not have an ID card, they will be directed to go to the Campus Security office to get a replacement card. On the Main Campus, the Security office is at the 16th street entrance. There will be no charge for a replacement ID card. We will also carry out this procedure at our Regional Centers as well.

Nothing will change with respect to visitors, alumni, retirees or prospective students—we will be able to process visitor badges as we have been.

It is strongly suggested that all personnel, in order to gain minimally impeded access, have their current ID card with them at all times and on full display while traversing the campus properties. The College ID card must be worn on a lanyard and displayed while on campus property.

It is imperative that faculty help spread the word to our students of the important role they have in keeping the College safe and the added time needed to come to class if they don’t have an ID card to gain access. Students have been made aware of this change.

It is also important to remember the primary use of the ID card is to verify a cardholder's status as a member of the College community. This system helps the College to ensure that the use of campus facilities and services is limited to eligible members of the College community.
