Community College of Philadelphia has two types of transfer agreements with Alvernia University’s Accelerated Baccalaureate Degree Programs: dual admissions and program-to-program. To benefit from any of these agreements students must earn an appropriate associate degree before transfer. These agreements are not exclusive of one another and the agreements can complement one another.

Dual Admissions

Alvernia University and Community College of Philadelphia have developed a dual admissions agreement. This agreement is designed to assist students who earn an appropriate associate degree to transfer to Alvernia University’s Accelerated Baccalaureate Degree Programs offered Online or at the Philadelphia Campus and On-Site Regional Campuses. Alvernia University guarantees admissions on the condition that students meet all the requirements.

Admissions into a particular major is not guaranteed. Upon transfer, students earn junior standing for matching majors. Support and financial incentives, including scholarship awards, are built-in to offer students the best opportunity for success.

Dual admissions eligibility

Students who do not qualify for dual admissions, are still eligible to transfer to Alvernia University. Please review the list of approved programs below and visit with a Community College of Philadelphia academic advisor or counselor for further assistance.

Program-to-Program

These are agreements in which an entire curriculum or program of study is accepted, so graduates of these specific associate degree programs transfer with advanced standing to a matching specific bachelor's degree program at Alvernia University.

Dual Admissions Eligibility

Alvernia University welcomes applicants to the Dual Admissions Program in order to facilitate the transfer of students from Community College of Philadelphia to Alvernia University’s Accelerated Baccalaureate Degree Programs with third-year (junior) status for the purpose of entering a bachelor's degree program.

To be eligible for this program, students must:

  • Submit a dual admissions intent form before earning no more than 45 graded college level credits (grades of A, B, C, D, F) from Community College of Philadelphia or any other college/university. Once a student has completed this form, they are strongly encouraged to meet with an Alvernia University undergraduate admissions representative and a Community College of Philadelphia academic advisor or counselor to develop a course taking strategy.
  • Graduate from Community College of Philadelphia with an Associate in Arts (A.A.), Associate in Science (A.S.) or Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) Degree in one of the approved programs listed.
  • Achieve a minimum Community College of Philadelphia cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 within an approved associate program of study.
  • Complete Alvernia University’s admissions application ideally once 45 credits have been earned or at least three months prior to the start of the semester in which they plan to begin their studies at Alvernia University and satisfy all other regular Alvernia University admissions requirements.
  • Enroll directly to Alvernia University’s Accelerated Baccalaureate Degree Programs within one year of completing an associate degree program of study from Community College of Philadelphia and not attend another institution between graduation and attendance at Alvernia University.

To submit a Dual Admissions intent form, login to MyCCP and find "Transfer/Dual Admissions" on the top right side of the MyGPS tab.

NOTE:

  • Students who have previously been matriculated to Alvernia University are not eligible for the Alvernia University dual admissions program.
  • Transfer credit will be awarded for courses with a grade of "C" or above for any and all courses transferred to Alvernia University. Grades of "D" will transfer to Alvernia University if the student has proof of earning an associate degree from Community College of Philadelphia. Alvernia University will need official transcripts for evaluation of credit from all institutions attended, including military transcripts. Credit will be awarded for AP, CLEP, PLA, Experiential Learning, etc., with appropriate documentation. Developmental courses are not eligible for transfer.
  • The maximum number of semester hours that can transfer to Alvernia University is 90. Students enrolled in an undergraduate program of study at Alvernia University are required to complete a minimum of 30 upper level credits upon transfer to Alvernia University.
  • A full-time student admitted with third-year (junior) status to Alvernia University will be able to complete most bachelor's degrees through Alvernia University’s Accelerated Baccalaureate Degree Programs within four regular semesters provided the student completes the appropriate associate degree program at Community College of Philadelphia and completes the appropriate sequence of his/her remaining course work at Alvernia University.
  • Under this Agreement, Alvernia University guarantees that except for developmental course credits, all Community College of Philadelphia credits from Community College of Philadelphia programs of study listed in this Agreement will fulfill general education, elective or major requirements in the corresponding Alvernia University major that the Community College of Philadelphia transfer student wishes to pursue.
  • Students who have pursued a Community College of Philadelphia associate degree study other than those listed in the search below and who wish to transfer to Alvernia University will be guaranteed admission on an individual basis and their credits will be evaluated on a course-by-course basis. Depending on the program of choice at Alvernia University, not all transfer credits may be applied to the major.
  • This Agreement does not include admissions to Alvernia University’s Traditional Day Programs offered at their Main Campus in Reading, Pennsylvania. Students interested in transfer to those programs are encouraged to meet with an Alvernia University admissions representative to learn about their options. Admissions to Alvernia University’s Main Campus in Reading will be reviewed on an individual basis and credits will be evaluated on a course-by-course basis.
