View Institution Transfer Agreement

Community College of Philadelphia has two types of transfer agreements with Harrisburg University of Science and Technology: dual admissions and program-to-program. To benefit from any of these agreements students must earn an appropriate associate degree before transfer. These agreements are not exclusive of one another and the agreements can complement one another.

Dual Admissions

Harrisburg University and Community College of Philadelphia have developed a dual admissions agreement. This agreement is designed to assist students who earn an appropriate associate degree to transfer to Harrisburg University. Harrisburg University guarantees admissions on the condition that students meet all the requirements.

Admissions into a particular major is not guaranteed. Upon transfer, students earn junior standing for matching majors. Support and financial incentives, including scholarship awards, are built-in to offer students the best opportunity for success.

Dual Admissions Eligibility

Students who do not qualify for dual admissions, are still eligible to transfer to Harrisburg University. Please review the list of approved programs below and visit with a Community College of Philadelphia academic advisor or counselor for further assistance.

Program-to-Program

These are agreements in which an entire curriculum or program of study is accepted, so graduates of these specific associate degree programs transfer with advanced standing to a matching specific bachelor's degree program at Harrisburg University.

Dual Admissions Eligibility

Harrisburg University of Science and Technology welcomes applicants to the Dual Admissions Program in order to facilitate the transfer of students from Community College of Philadelphia to Harrisburg University with third-year (junior) status for the purpose of entering a bachelor’s degree program.
To be eligible for this program, students must:

  • Submit a dual admissions intent form before earning no more than 45 graded college level credits (grades of A, B, C, D, F) from Community College of Philadelphia or any other college/university. Once a student has completed this form, they are strongly encouraged to contact a Harrisburg University admissions representative and meet with a Community College of Philadelphia academic advisor or counselor to develop a course-taking strategy.
  • Complete the Harrisburg University admissions application and appropriate admissions materials upon completion of 45 credits or during the last semester at Community College of Philadelphia.
  • Graduate from Community College of Philadelphia with an Associate in Arts (A.A.), Associate in Science (A.S.) or Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in one of the approved programs listed.
  • Achieve a minimum Community College of Philadelphia cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.0.
  • Enroll directly to Harrisburg University within one year of completing an associate degree program of study from Community College of Philadelphia and not attend another institution between graduation and attendance at Harrisburg University.

To submit a Dual Admissions intent form, login to MyCCP and find “Transfer/Dual Admissions” on the top right side of the MyGPS tab.

NOTE:

  • Students who have previously been matriculated to Harrisburg University are not eligible for the Harrisburg University dual admissions program.
  • A full-time student admitted with third-year (junior) status to Harrisburg University will be able to complete most bachelor's degrees at Harrisburg University within four regular (fall/spring) semesters provided the student completes the appropriate associate degree program at Community College of Philadelphia and completes the appropriate sequence of their remaining course work at Harrisburg University.
  • Grades of “C” or higher will transfer to Harrisburg University. The maximum number of credits that may be transferred to the student’s record is 87; no more than 70 may have been earned at a two-year institution. Credits five or more years old in the Computer and Information Sciences subjects are not transferrable.
  • HU will accept credits through non-traditional means including but not limited to MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses), Armed Services Training Programs, Prior Learning, and Credit by Examination. Students should refer to the HU undergraduate catalog for information on these types of credit.

Advantages of Dual Admissions

Students who participate in dual admissions are eligible for the following benefits:

  • Application fee to Harrisburg University will be waived.
  • Scholarships for dual admissions students enrolled full-time (12 or more credits) campus based programs with a final minimum cumulative 2.0 Community College of Philadelphia GPA.
  • Informational meetings with Harrisburg University staff at Harrisburg University’s Philadelphia campus and Community College of Philadelphia main campus for assistance in matriculating to Harrisburg University.

Scholarships and Financial Aid

Dual Admissions Partnership Scholarship

(Full-time at Harrisburg or Philadelphia Locations)

Community College of Philadelphia dual admissions students who enroll on a full-time (12 or more credits a semester) basis as a traditional, on-campus student are eligible to receive the Community College of Philadelphia Partnership Scholarship, which awards up to $20,400 per year. It is calculated as a last dollar award and is applied to a student’s account after all other forms of grants, scholarships and the first $3,500 (in federal loans, payment plan, etc.) are applied. The scholarship will cover any remaining costs of tuition. Traditional on-campus programs are available at Harrisburg University's Main Campus or Philadelphia Campus.

This scholarship may be renewed each year contingent upon the students submitting their FAFSA and remaining in good academic standing at Harrisburg University. Students must maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA at Harrisburg University to remain in good standing. This scholarship is awarded for the fall and spring semesters only.

Part-time Students (enrolled in less than 12 credits a semester) are eligible to participate in the Dual Admissions process but are not eligible for scholarship money.

Applicants must apply for all state and federal grants before their respective deadlines. Students are strongly encouraged to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) before May 1st each year to determine if they are eligible for a state grant.

Harrisburg University Online (100% Online)

Students who elect to transfer directly into one of Harrisburg University’s online bachelor degree programs are eligible to participate in the Dual Admissions process, but due to the already reduced online tuition rate, are not eligible for admissions scholarships.

Additionally, students that make the decision to transfer out of one of Harrisburg University’s traditional campus-based program into one of Harrisburg University’s online programs are still eligible to participate in the Dual Admissions process, however the previously awarded institutional aid is void due to the reduced tuition rate for the online courses.

International Students

International students attending in person at either Harrisburg or Philadelphia locations, are not eligible for the Community College of Philadelphia Partnership Scholarship but are eligible for merit scholarships such such as the Presidential Scholarship ($10,000/year), the Provost Scholarship ($8000/year), the Transfer Opportunity Scholarship ($6,000/year) and the Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship ($4000/year).

Transfer students can go to http://harrisburgu.edu/hu-scholarships-grants/ or contact for more information regarding scholarships that may fit their needs.
