Program Description:

Events in our personal and work lives can trigger stress. Many people mistakenly believe that the events themselves are solely responsible for our reactions. While the events themselves do often spark a stress reaction, our thought process can also play a role. Our perception of the events as well as our thoughts about the events are actually responsible for a lot of the stress we experience. When we think, “This is awful,” “This always happens to me,” or “I used to love my job but now I hate it,” these thoughts can actually increase our levels of stress and make it more difficult for us to take effective action. The good news is that we can learn to change our thinking so it is more positive and balanced. This seminar will assist participants in identifying the most common forms of distorted thinking that lead to feelings of irritation, frustration, and fear. Participants will acquire skills to challenge these thoughts and to replace them with more realistic self-talk.
