Take a look back at some of the events that happened at Community College of Philadelphia in summer 2022. We unveiled the College's newly remodeled and upgraded music studio (with a guest appearance from Dr. Generals on the drums), celebrated our 2022 Gateway to College graduates, welcomed faculty and staff back to the College with an employee picnic, celebrated the retirement of longstanding members of the College community, tended to Grady's Garden and hosted admission events to help applicants complete the steps to enrollment.
The grand opening of the Career and Advanced Technology Center (CATC) on Aug. 18 featured Mayor Kenney, elected officials and members of the College community, who provided remarks before the ribbon cutting. Attendees were able to tour the facility, which houses programs in transportation technologies, health care and manufacturing. Offering degree and short-term career programs, as well as certifications, the CATC will prepare Philadelphians for in-demand positions through hands-on training with the latest equipment found in the field.
Enrollment in the College’s new Tuition Payment Plan for Fall 2022 will be available ONLINE via the MyCCP portal beginning July 5, 2022. Enhancements include more payment options, financial aid and company billing included when calculating the payment schedule and the option to enroll in automatic payments. Students interested in enrolling can log onto MyCCP and select the Enroll in a/View Your Payment Plan link under the Financial Services channel. For more information about the Fall 2022 Tuition Payment Plan, select the Fall 2022 Payment Plan Information link under the Financial Services Channel.

Congratulations to the class of 2022! On May 14, Community College of Philadelphia hosted its 56th Commencement ceremony at The Liacouras Center – the College’s first in-person commencement ceremony since 2019. The keynote speaker was Philadelphia City Councilmember and Majority Leader Cherelle L. Parker. The Class of 2022 includes more than 1,800 graduates earning 2,006 degrees and certificates. There are 1,014 students graduating with honors by earning at least a 3.2 GPA.
This spring the College celebrated the accomplishments of another cohort of future nurses with an in-person ceremony where 98 students graduated with an Associate in Applied Science in Nursing. The ceremony took place at 10 a.m. Friday, May 6 in the Bonnell Building with remarks from Dr. Donald Guy Generals; Dr. Vishal Shah, dean of Math, Science and Health Careers; Dr. Barbara McLaughlin, Nursing Department head; Dr. Jean Byrd, assistant professor of Nursing; student speakers and others.
This year the College hosted the first ever ROARchella, an outdoor event to celebrate springtime and our College community’s full-time return to campus.
Our College Community enjoyed a number of exciting events this spring. The Art department held its annual April is Art exhibit as well as a prof. Terry Peterson’s show and art talk “Under the Tutelage.”
After more than a year of virtual events, we were thrilled to once again host a number of on-campus events during the fall 2021 semester. From remembering 9/11 to honoring our veterans on Veterans Day, to the pinning ceremony for our Diagnostic Imaging graduates, the reopening of Grady's Garden and the Thanksgiving Grab-and-Go lunch giveaway and more, we welcomed the opportunity to once again come together as a community in person. On December 13, Dr. Generals hosted many of our employees at the new Library and Learning Commons (LLC) for a Holiday Campfire, a pre-holiday celebration honoring years of service to the College. Employees with a milestone of 5, 10, 15, 20 and 30 years of service were invited to enjoy an afternoon of seasonal fun on the new LLC patio as part of their recognition for their years of commitment to the College and our students. In addition, adjunct faculty who have achieved 64 seniority units were also acknowledged.
