Smoke Free

Clearing the Air

A Smoke-Free Community College of Philadelphia

As of January 1, 2017, Community College of Philadelphia is now a smoke-free campus. Please see our Smoke-Free Campus Policy for additional information.

Tobacco use is not an individual issue; it‘s a community issue. Everyone deserves good health—to live, learn, and work in an environment that promotes health, not exposure to a deadly product. Community College of Philadelphia has a responsibility to create environments of wellness for students and staff.

Tobacco use is the leading cause of preventable death in the country. Smoking kills more Americans than alcohol, car crashes, AIDS-related causes, fires, heroin, cocaine, homicide and suicide combined. When you quit smoking, you can say goodbye to the harmful effects of tobacco and hello to savings. Use the UCanQuit2.org quitting calculator to see how much you will save.

With a little help, you have the power to be an ex-smoker. We’ve put together this online resource guide for the College community with national, state and local resources to help you quit smoking. Together, we can make Community College of Philadelphia smoke free.

EX®
EX® was created by the American Legacy Foundation® with the help of quit smoking experts at the Mayo Clinic Nicotine Dependence Center and the National Alliance for Tobacco Cessation (NATC). Legacy's EX® program was designed to help people “re-learn life without cigarettes.” It helps smokers do everything they used to do with a cigarette without one. The website offers smokers a free plan to quit, and also features an active online community, where smokers who are trying to quit can connect with others to share support and encouragement.

The EX Plan includes three steps combined to help you achieve one goal: Quit smoking.
